BiographySimon Pope is an artist and NESTA Fellow. He lives in Cardiff, Wales and teaches on the post-graduate Transmedia programme at Hogeschool Sint-Lukas, Brussels. Recent activity includes directorship of the undergraduate 'Design for Interactive Media' programme at UWIC, Cardiff, Wales; 'Art is everything business is not', a paper commissioned by the Arts Council of England; Art for Networks touring exhibition with Chapter in Cardiff, Wales; founder membership of informal (www.informal.org.uk), an extra-academic research unit. As NESTA Fellow, Simon is currently undertaking research into walking as a research method in fine art practice.Previous projects include the Webby winning software 'IOD 4:The Web Stalker' (http://bak.spc.org/iod); 'Into the Web' installation for the Office of Zaha Hadid at the Millennium Dome, London; 'Ice Cream for Everyone' (http://bak.spc.org/ice); the technical manual, London Walking (B.T Batsford, 2000);'Art for Networks', a survey of networked art practice for BBC Online and Out of Our Tree', an essay for Diffussion's Species of Spaces series (www.diffusion.org.uk). |
